You're hired to be our new senior minister! Consider what you might be asking yourself: Where would you even begin? What changes will need to be addressed? How would you approach the beginning of your ministry? New Wine into Old Wineskins seeks to answer these very questions. New Wine into Old Wineskins takes you on a journey of visiting, or revisiting, the biblical mission of the church and keeping this fundamental principal in a changing environment. If a leader's task is to help define the mission, then the leader must also implement and execute said mission. This book will help the new senior minister, New Wine, to implement a change process for the established church, Old Wineskins.

The Judeo-Christian bible begins with a description/ of the universe God has created. In the center of that universe is a tree laden with the gifts man needs. Man is made from the very being by God and charged with protecting that tree - the tree of life, of good and evil. Man abuses that trust. God does not punish man. Man is forced to live with the consequences of that mistrust. Much of the rest of the Old Testament describes the result of that mistrust: wars, murder, struggles, misuse of the land. Even then God does not abandon man. From a thunder filled mountain God attempts to reestablish man's trust in God. Man again abuses that trust. God sends prophets to help restore that trust. Some are ignored, some killed. God does not quit. Again through a tree God attempts to breach man's mistrust. This book will not look at the consequences of man's mistrust. It will concentrate on the poetic images the Bible uses to describe God's attempt to help us be aware of that trust. This history is told in a series of poems. I hope many will have experienced these thoughts. Even if no one even

The title New Wines In Old Wineskins is an attempt to describe the book. NEW WINE is a new look at scripture passages. OLD WINE is the way we often look at scripture. New wine in old wineskins usually breaks the old wineskins. I hope these thoughts will cause wineskins to expand without breaking. The Bible was not written by philosophers or theologians. It was written by simple nomadic people who derived their idea of God from nature and their unique struggle to understand the meaning of their own lives and the God they seek. Much of it is poetry. Not many persons read the Bible as poetry. This book is an attempt to look at the Bible as a work of poetry. The final part of the book looks at God as a child might look at God. The first section is TREES. It looks at creation, the tree of life, sin, forgiveness. Another section is FOOTPRINTS IN THE SANDS. It is the story of a person who grows tired of the corruption in the city, leaves and attempts to find God. The person comes to the sea. It is so vast that it would be impossible to find

God wants to do a new thing in the African American Church. Author, Douglas Powe suggests that the African American church, while once the bedrock of the community, is no longer on the radar for many. During the Civil Rights movement African American churches initiated and even shaped transformation for an entire country, well beyond their own walls. In this post-Civil Rights era the power of many African American churches remains mired in the assumptions and practices of the past, thereby making them invisible to their surrounding communities. New Wine, New Wineskins helps African American congregations understand and benefit from the cultural shifts we are now experiencing. Many African American churches once thought they were immune to the cultural shock waves in our streets and neighborhoods. They simple argued that they have always been all about participation and being relational; yet like many churches, their numbers continue to decline. African American churches must find a way to reclaim their missional orientation, while at the same time remaining true to their historical identity and witness of speaking truth to power. The worthy goals of justice and bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ in this time, requires new practices and fresh

While speaking out against the status quo of his day, Jesus referred to himself and his message as new wine poured out into new wineskins. Today consecrated life is living a time of deep change and is discovering the "new wine": Where shall we put this wine, in old wineskins or in new wineskins? These guidelines test the wineskins made to preserve the new wines that the Spirit continues to give to his Church, inciting us to initiate changes through concrete action in the short and long term.It is an exercise in "ecclesial discernment" through which consecrated men and women are called to undergo new changes so that ideals and doctrine become real in our lives: systems, structures, diaconia, styles, relationships and language. These guidelines are the product of what emerged from the events held during the Year of Consecrated Life.

Cycle of daily Gospel and Epistle readings based on the movable calendar, which starts with Easter (Pascha), includes the fifty days after the Resurrection, Pentecost and the 37 weeks that followed, the Week of the Publican and the Pharisee, followed by the Triodion, which begins 10 weeks before Easter, and includes the Preparation for Lent, Graet Lent and Holy Week. This work is particularly addressed to those who set aside an hour daily for prayer and meditation. Appendices are added for Sunday matins, major fixed feasts such as Nativity, Theophany and other Feast days of Martyrsm saints. But since this volume is not arranged according to the fixed calendar which lists all the saints and fixed feasts for each day of the month, a suitable companion would be a Menaion, which provides a fuller treatment of the major feast days, and the flow of church seasons.
The Net Bible Synopsis of the Four Gospels

A synopsis is a tool which displays different passages of a text side by side for comparison. This is most commonly done with the four Gospels of the New Testament because of their similar material, but it could reasonably be done with any text that has similar passages, such as the Old Testament historical narratives. The synopsis you presently hold contains the four Gospels of the New Testament. It is different from comparing parallel versions, such as one English translation to another, because all of the passages displayed in this synopsis are from the same version, the NET Bible. It is different from a harmony because the passages are not reorganized into one story; each Gospel in a synopsis is separate from the others and can be read by itself or in comparison with the others. This parallel arrangement enables fruitful comparison of the Gospels to each other so each may be understood well on its own in light of the others.
