Type: BOOK - Published: 2004 - Publisher: Trafford Publishing
Insight Into Information is based on sixty years of research on the Secret Messages and Hidden Maps Inside of Information. These several levels of subtle, subliminal and secret meanings provide reverberating, resonant echoes in all information much as the background music in movies but with more levels of meaning in these fields: science, religion, literature, entertainment, TV, advertising, technology and literally all fields of endeavor at home, at work, in school and at play. Many have already benefited from this information. The author, a retired clinical and rehabilitation psychologist, used this information in his private, clinical and consulting practice in schools and industry. This new, proven research shows: The helpful hidden hooks from which you can benefit. You will learn the inborn universal maps which influence and guide all of us in marvelous ways--including the name GOD on the human head and face. The harmful, deceptive hooks inside of words of which you are not aware but which can influence you. The word now is an example, as in buy now: Now is an anagram of won and own. These anagrams puzzle our brain and set up delays which advertisers want and to get you to participate in the anagram
The Brain in a Vat
Language: en
Authors: Sanford C. Goldberg
Categories: Philosophy
Type: BOOK - Published: 2016-06-13 - Publisher: Cambridge University Press
The scenario of the brain in a vat, first aired thirty-five years ago in Hilary Putnam's classic paper, has been deeply influential in philosophy of mind and language, epistemology, and metaphysics. This collection of new essays examines the scenario and its philosophical ramifications and applications, as well as the challenges which it has faced. The essays review historical applications of the brain-in-a-vat scenario and consider its impact on contemporary debates. They explore a diverse range of philosophical issues, from intentionality, external-world scepticism, and the nature of truth, to the extended mind hypothesis, reference magnetism, and new versions of realism. The volume will be a rich and valuable resource for advanced students in metaphysics, epistemology, and philosophy of mind and language, as well as anyone interested in the relations between language, thought and the world.

Authors: Matthew Alper
Categories: Science
Type: BOOK - Published: 2008-09-01 - Publisher: Sourcebooks, Inc.
Is Man the product of a God...or is "God" the product of human evolution? From the dawn of our species, every human culture-no matter how isolated-has believed in some form of a spiritual realm. According to author Matthew Alper, this is no mere coincidence but rather due to the fact that humans, as a species, are genetically predisposed to believe in the universal concepts of a god, a soul and an afterlife. This instinct to believe is the result of an evolutionary adaptation-a coping mechanism-that emerged in our species to help us survive our unique and otherwise debilitating awareness of death. Spiritual seekers and atheists alike will be compelled and transformed by Matthew Alper's classic study of science and religion. The 'God' Part of the Brain has gained critical acclaim from some of the world's leading scientists, secular humanists, and theologians, and is as a must read for anyone who has pondered the question of God's existence, as well as the meaning of our own. Praise for The "God" Part of the Brain "This cult classic in many ways parallels Rene Descartes' search for reliable and certain knowledge...Drawing on such disciplines as philosophy, psychology, and biology, Alper argues that belief

One of America's great philosophers says the time has come to reform philosophy. His goal is to embed philosophy in social life.
The Limits of Realism
Language: en
Pages: 288
Authors: Tim Button
Categories: Philosophy
Type: BOOK - Published: 2013-06-27 - Publisher: OUP Oxford
Tim Button explores the relationship between words and world; between semantics and scepticism. A certain kind of philosopherthe external realistworries that appearances might be radically deceptive; we might all, for example, be brains in vats, stimulated by an infernal machine. But anyone who entertains the possibility of radical deception must also entertain a further worry: that all of our thoughts are totally contentless. That worry is just incoherent. We cannot, then, be external realists, who worry about the possibility of radical deception. Equally, though, we cannot be internal realists, who reject all possibility of deception. We must position ourselves somewhere between internal realism and external realism, but we cannot hope to say exactly where. We must be realists, for what that is worth, and realists within limits. In establishing these claims, Button critically explores and develops several themes from Hilary Putnam's work: the model-theoretic arguments; the connection between truth and justification; the brain-in-vat argument; semantic externalism; and conceptual relativity. The Limits of Realism establishes the continued significance of these topics for all philosophers interested in mind, logic, language, or the possibility of metaphysics.

Authors: Bennett L. Schwartz
Categories: Psychology
Type: BOOK - Published: 2020-07-08 - Publisher: SAGE Publications
As author Bennett Schwartz says in Memory: Foundations and Applications, it is hard to imagine an aspect of psychology more fundamental than memory. This unique text covers key memory models, theories, and experiments, but goes a step further to demonstrate how students can apply these concepts to their everyday lives and improve their own ability to learn and remember. A new, three-pronged organization opens the text with an overview of the psychological science of Memory, builds expertise in advanced topics, and then allows the reader to think about how memory research can benefit society. Neuroscience research is integrated throughout each chapter to demonstrate our understanding of where memory processes occur and how researchers use data to shape memory theories. Additional updates to the the Fourth Edition include a chapter on memory science′s relevance to the legal system, a chapter on memory issues in psychiatric disorders, a reorganized chapter on memory development, and an enlarged section on prospective memory now combined with the chapter on metamemory.
